New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) announced today that it arrested a smuggler on the India-Bangladesh border in possession of gold biscuits worth Rs 2.82 crore.
According to the BSF, authorities received a tip-off that a person from Muslimpara village near the border was planning to smuggle gold from Bangladesh through the Horandipur area.
“Upon receiving the information, the jawans on duty were put on extra alert and a trap was laid. At around 6 am, we noticed a suspicious individual moving cautiously behind a dense bamboo grove. The person was immediately surrounded and apprehended. A search of the individual led to the recovery of a plastic packet, which was found to contain 20 gold biscuits. The smuggler was taken into custody on the spot and brought to the Horandipur BOP for further questioning,” the BSF stated.
