Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Scheduled Caste Department President Pradeep Ahirwar on Saturday condemned the recent derogatory remarks made against Dr B.R. Ambedkar by lawyer Anil Mishra, calling it “an assault not just on an individual but on the very spirit of the Constitution and the dignity of the judiciary.”
Ahirwar, along with several Congress leaders from the SC community, submitted a memorandum to the President of India demanding an immediate probe into the incident within the Supreme Court premises and the arrest of the accused lawyer. They also sought the cancellation of his licence and prosecution under sedition and other stringent laws.
The memorandum further called for a “zero-tolerance policy” towards caste-based hatred, creation of a strict monitoring mechanism for Dalit safety and dignity within judicial institutions, and a nationwide campaign to promote constitutional values and equality.
Ahirwar warned that if no firm action is taken, the Congress SC Department will launch a nationwide agitation. Copies of the memorandum have been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Law Minister Arjun Meghwal.
A large number of Congress leaders and workers participated in the protest demonstration held in Bhopal.
