Bhopal: The Southwest Monsoon is on the verge of a complete withdrawal from Madhya Pradesh, though the Meteorological Department has warned that scattered light rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is possible in several eastern districts today. A palpable change in weather patterns is now evident, with nights beginning to turn distinctly cooler.
Monsoon’s Retreat Confirmed
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that the monsoon has withdrawn from most parts of the state as of October 10, 2025. The official withdrawal line now passes through key areas including Jabalpur, Akola, and Varanasi, signaling the definitive end of the rainy season’s active phase.
In the 24 hours leading up to Friday morning, light showers were recorded in Anuppur, Singrauli, Mandla, Balaghat, and Dindori. However, weather scientists project that the complete withdrawal of the monsoon from the remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, as well as vast areas of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, is highly likely within the next three to four days.
Eastern Rains, Western Dryness
The forecast suggests that isolated thundershowers may affect districts in the East MP divisions—including Bhopal, Jabalpur, Rewa, and Shahdol—over the next day. In contrast, districts in West Madhya Pradesh are expected to remain dry. As the monsoon recedes, a noticeable drop in night temperatures has begun, bringing a welcome early autumn chill to the mornings and evenings across the state.
