Guna: A devastating head-on collision on Jail Road yesterday morning has plunged the community into grief, claiming the life of a young woman on the day she was set to observe a sacred fast. Priyanka Kushwah, who tragically had henna on her hands, died instantly after a speeding Scorpio SUV brutally hit the motorcycle she was riding with her husband, Deepak Kushwah.
The crash near Akashwani around 11 a.m. was so ferocious that the impact ripped a tree out of the ground. Deepak is currently battling life-threatening injuries at the district hospital.
Eyewitnesses report the high-speed Scorpio dragged for nearly 50 feet before the violent impact. The sheer force of the collision sent the couple flying about 20 feet. In a chain reaction, the out-of-control Scorpio then slammed into a nearby tree, uprooting it.
Besides the couple, five other individuals—four youths travelling in the SUV and one other person—were seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. Police have seized the SUV and initiated an investigation into the horrific accident, which has once again highlighted the dangers of rash driving on Jail Road. The community is left mourning the loss, amplified by the day’s tragic symbolism.
