- Collector chairs task force meeting
Bhopal: The district is set to launch the National Pulse Polio Campaign on October 12, aimed at vaccinating children up to 5 years old against polio. A recent task force meeting, chaired by Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, emphasized the importance of achieving 100% vaccination coverage. The meeting included key stakeholders such as District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Ila Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Manish Sharma, and representatives from various sectors, including government and private medical colleges, the Education Department, and the World Health Organization.
The campaign aims to vaccinate approximately 350,000 children across Bhopal. To facilitate this, 2,699 vaccination booths will be established, staffed by 6,144 trained vaccinators and monitored by 360 supervisors. In addition, 118 transit booths will be set up at major transportation hubs, ensuring that children traveling in and out of the district receive the vaccine.
To reach high-risk populations, 80 mobile teams will operate in areas such as brick kilns and construction sites. Dr. Sharma highlighted the ongoing risk of polio from neighboring countries, making this campaign crucial for child health in the region. The vaccine will also be available at 105 government health institutions and 56 private facilities throughout the district.
