Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress Party on Wednesday organised a candle march at Roshanpura Square, Bhopal, to protest against the tragic deaths of several children in Chhindwara district. A large number of Congress leaders, workers, and members of the Mahila Congress wing participated in the demonstration, demanding swift government action in the matter.
Speaking to the media, State Congress President Jeetu Patwari criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not questioning Chief Minister Mohan Yadav over the incident. “The Prime Minister has not sought any explanation from the Chief Minister on this serious issue. There is little hope left for justice,” Patwari said.
Senior Congress leaders present at the march included Pradesh co-incharge Sanjay Dutt, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, organisation vice-president Sukhdev Panse, city Congress president Praveen Saxena, and rural Congress president Anokhi Patel.
Former minister P.C. Sharma, SC Cell president Pradeep Ahirwar, state spokesperson Vivek Tripathi, former mayor and mahila morcha president Vibha Patel, and several Congress spokespersons including Abhinav Baroliya, Rahul Raj, Sherayar Khan, Vikrant Choudhary, Swadesh Sharma, and Praveen Dholpure also joined the protest.
The participants lit candles in memory of the deceased children and vowed to continue their agitation until justice is delivered to the victims’ families.
