Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Congress, led by state spokesperson Vivek Tripathi, staged a strong protest in Bhopal on Sunday against the deaths of a dozen children in Chhindwara, allegedly due to the consumption of toxic cough syrup.

During the demonstration, Congress and NSUI workers symbolically hanged 12 toy dolls with BJP scarves to represent what they termed the government’s “insensitivity and administrative murder.” Protesters sat on the road, raising slogans and holding posters of the poisonous cough syrup bottles while demanding the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla.

Tripathi accused the state government and the Health Department of gross negligence, stating that despite the enormity of the tragedy, no investigation report had been released and no action taken against the culprits. He demanded the immediate resignation of Shukla, Principal Secretary Sandeep Yadav, Drug Controller Dinesh Kumar Maurya, and Deputy Drug Controller Shobhit Costa.

Other Congress leaders, including Prakash Chouksey, Akshay Tomar, and Virendra Mishra, criticised the BJP government for its failure to protect children’s lives and vowed to continue the agitation until justice is served.
