Bhopal: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bhopal unit, conducted a special training session for its vendors on the GreenCo Certification System, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The programme was led by Sohail Khan Pathan and highlighted BHEL’s firm commitment to sustainable manufacturing and environmental stewardship.
The initiative aimed to familiarise vendors with the GreenCo Certification framework, a distinguished system developed by CII to promote eco-friendly practices across industries. Discussions during the session covered essential areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable supply chain practices.
Addressing the participants, Vipul Agarwal, General Manager (Materials Management), said, “Our vendors are an integral part of our supply chain. Their adoption of the GreenCo framework will further strengthen our collective efforts towards a greener future.” Senior Deputy General Manager (CRX-FSX), Richa Bajpai, and Deepak Kuzmar, Manager (FSX), also shared insights, emphasising the importance of collaborative approaches in achieving long-term sustainability goals.
More than 40 vendors actively participated in the session, reflecting a unified vision of fostering environmentally responsible manufacturing. The initiative not only provided a knowledge-sharing platform but also reinforced BHEL Bhopal’s role as a leader in advancing sustainability in the industrial sector.
This effort aligns with BHEL’s broader objective of integrating green practices into its supply chain, thereby setting a benchmark for industry-wide environmental responsibility.
