Parmar attends 12th Bhopal Science Fair at BU

  • Minister for integration of Indian knowledge tradition in modern curriculum

Bhopal: Higher Education, Technical Education, and AYUSH Minister Inder Singh Parmar highlighted the urgent need to revisit and document India’s ancient knowledge and sciences through a contemporary lens. Speaking at the “Indian Knowledge Tradition Seminar” held during the 12th Bhopal Science Fair 2025 at Gyan-Vigyan Bhawan, Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Parmar urged society to awaken a sense of ownership and confidence in India’s rich traditional wisdom, free from any inferiority complex. He emphasized that Indian knowledge, rooted in inclusive traditions and scientific inquiry by our ancestors, should be re-established globally with an Indian perspective.

Parmar explained that India’s heritage encompasses not only religious practices but also deep scientific understanding, seen in practices like gratitude toward nature and exceptional traditional management skills, such as the expertise of Indian housewives in kitchen management—an example of practical knowledge on the world stage. He stressed that the National Education Policy 2020 offers a vital opportunity to incorporate this knowledge into mainstream education, enriching it with Indian philosophy and scientific tradition.

Minister Parmar expressed optimism that, with collective effort, India will reclaim its position as a “Vishwaguru” (World Leader) by drawing strength from its glorious civilization, history, and sciences. He called for self-respect, hard work, and perseverance to advance the nation on the global platform.

Professor Ganti Surya Narayan Murthy of IIT Indore, in his keynote address, emphasized the importance of holistic integration of Indian knowledge into education to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047. He highlighted intellectual self-reliance and innovation as key to preserving and advancing this heritage.
