New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI) Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia today criticized the central government over the arrest of Ladakhi activist and innovator Sonam Wangchuk, labeling the action as unjust.
Sisodia, who serves as the party’s Punjab in-charge, stated that the real threat to the nation comes not from Wangchuk, but from those who imprison individuals like him. He described Wangchuk as a person who has dedicated his life to the development of Ladakh and its children.
The former Delhi Education Minister said he has known Wangchuk personally and is familiar with his work, which he claimed is admired globally. Sisodia referenced the Bollywood film “3 Idiots,” noting that a central character was inspired by Wangchuk’s life and innovations in education.
“To brand such a human being a threat to the country and jail him under laws meant for severe criminals is deeply shameful,” Sisodia remarked during a press release. He argued that Wangchuk’s arrest, for raising concerns about Ladakh, was wrong.
Sisodia further stated that if such an arrest does not disturb the public’s conscience, then their sense of patriotism is merely superficial. He defined true patriotism as raising one’s voice against the persecution of citizens who have served the nation.
The AAP leader concluded by calling on citizens to stand with Sonam Wangchuk and assert that he is not a threat to India.
The government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations made by Sisodia.
Wangchuk was arrested recently under the National Security Act.
