Engineers are keys to a developed India: Tulsi Silawat

Bhopal: Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat on Tuesday unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya, hailing engineers as crucial partners in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed and self-reliant India. Speaking at the ceremony, Silawat paid tribute to Visvesvaraya, a “visionary and highly skilled engineer,” and urged the engineering community to emulate his dedication.

The minister underscored the significant progress made in water engineering under Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, noting that Madhya Pradesh leads the nation in water conservation. Silawat also announced an annual award to honor five outstanding engineers for their contributions.

He highlighted major ongoing projects, including the Ken-Betwa, Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal, and Tapi Mega Recharge initiatives, which he believes will transform the state. The minister stated that irrigation coverage has expanded to 52 lakh hectares and aims to reach 100 lakh hectares by 2027, which will boost rural prosperity.

The event, held at the Water Resources Department’s main office, was attended by a large number of engineers and department officials. The minister concluded by emphasizing that bringing water to every farm is a key pledge of the government, which will ultimately enrich the nation.
