Bhopal: In a significant move to bolster medical education, the Madhya Pradesh government has approved the creation of 354 new Senior Resident positions across its 13 autonomous medical colleges. This decision, announced by Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, aims to meet the standards set by the National Medical Commission and improve the quality of healthcare training in the state.
The newly created posts will be distributed among medical colleges in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Satna, Vidisha, Ratlam, Khandwa, Shahdol, Shivpuri, Datia, and Chhindwara.
Deputy Chief Minister Shukla stated that the initiative is a testament to the government’s commitment to strengthening medical education. “The appointments of Senior Residents in non-clinical and para-clinical faculties will provide significant support to our medical colleges,” he said. He added that the move will offer postgraduate students valuable training opportunities and help produce a new generation of skilled medical teachers.
Shukla also thanked Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav for his “far-sighted leadership,” emphasizing that this decision will be a historic step for the state’s health and education sectors. The creation of these positions is expected to ensure the smooth operation of medical colleges and provide a pathway for postgraduate students to complete their senior residency within the state, thereby retaining talent and improving the overall quality of medical services.
