New Delhi, Sept 23 (UNI) President Droupadi Murmu today conferred Indian cinema’s highest recognition– the Dada Saheb Phalke Award–to legendary Malayalam actor Mohanlal at the 71st National Film Award held at Vigyan Bhawan here.
Superstar Shahrukh Khan and Vikrant Massey shared the Best Actor awards for their roles in Jawan and 12th Fail respectively. The Best Actress awards was conferred on Rani Mukherjee for her role in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.
Bhargav Jagtap, Shrinivas Pokale and Treesha Thosar were conferred with the Best Child Artist award for the Marathi film Naal 2.
The Best Female Playback Singer was given to Shilpa Rao for the song ‘Chaliya’ from the movie Jawan.
Vaibhavi Merchant won the Best Choreography award for the song ‘Dhindhora Baje Re’ from the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in his aaddress on the occasion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to make India a hub of content creation.
“Earlier our creators used to go abroad. Now the world is coming to India. Through WAVES Bazaar, the product of our content creators is now finding new markets everywhere,” Vaishnaw said.
