New Delhi, Sept 23 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi today hit out at the government, saying the rising unemployment among India’s youth is directly linked to “electoral malpractices”.
In a post on X, Rahul said that when a government earns the public trust and comes to power, its foremost responsibility should be to create job opportunities and secure the future of the country’s young population.
In a post on X, Gandhi said, “The biggest problem for the youth in India is unemployment — and it is directly linked to vote theft. When a government comes to power by winning the trust of the people, its primary duty is to provide employment and opportunities to the youth”.
However, Gandhi alleged that the BJP does not win elections fairly, accusing the ruling party of maintaining power through “vote chori”.
“But BJP does not win elections honestly — they remain in power through vote theft and by capturing institutions. That is why unemployment has reached a 45-year high,” he alleged.
He further alleged that rampant corruption in recruitment processes, frequent exam paper leaks and scandals that have become common and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of prioritizing public relations and billionaire interests over the aspirations of the youth.
“That is why jobs are decreasing, recruitment processes have collapsed, and the future of the youth is being pushed into darkness. That is why every exam paper leaks and every recruitment story is connected to corruption. The country’s youth work hard, dream big, and struggle for their future. But Modi ji is only busy with his PR, getting celebrities to praise him, and enriching billionaires. Breaking the hopes of the youth and making them despair has become this government’s identity,” the Raebareli MP said.
Gandhi expressed optimism that the “tide is turning”, as India’s youth are now aware that the battle goes beyond jobs.
“Now, the situation is changing. India’s youth have realized that the real fight is not just for jobs, but against vote theft. Because as long as elections are stolen, unemployment and corruption will keep increasing,” he said.
He added, “Now, the youth will neither tolerate the plunder of jobs, nor the theft of votes. Making India free from unemployment and vote theft is the greatest patriotism today”.
