Bottled water to cost Rs 1 less on trains, railway stations from Sept 22

New Delhi, Sept 20 (UNI) Bottled drinking water sold on trains and at station premises, including the ‘Rail Neer’ brand and other authorised labels, will be Rs 1 cheaper from September 22 following the implementation of revised GST rates.

The Railway Board has issued instructions in this regard. According to a commercial circular issued today here the revised prices will take effect from September 22. The maximum retail price (MRP) of a 1-litre bottle of Rail Neer will be reduced from Rs 15 to Rs 14, while the 500 ml bottle will now cost Rs 9 instead of Rs 10.

These rates will also apply to other IRCTC-approved bottled water brands sold on trains and across railway premises. The circular has been issued to all General Managers of Indian Railways and to the Chairman and Managing Director of IRCTC.

The price revision follows a recent reduction in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate applicable on bottled water, effectively bringing down the retail cost by about 7 to 10 percent.
