Bhopal: In a landmark move, the Madhya Pradesh Police Department held its annual State-Level Joint Police Consultative and Welfare Committee meeting after a six-year gap. Led by Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Kailash Makwana, the meeting, held at the Ravindra Bhawan auditorium, brought together senior officers and representatives from across the state to discuss and decide on crucial welfare issues for the police force.
Key decisions and announcements
The DGP announced a series of welfare measures and initiatives aimed at boosting police morale and efficiency. The recruitment drive for 7,500 constables has already begun, with plans to soon hire 500 sub-inspectors, 500 subedars, and 500 clerical staff. In recognition of bravery and exceptional service, 64 police personnel received out-of-turn promotions for their contributions to anti-Naxalite operations. Furthermore, the DGP highlighted the success of initiatives like “Safe Click” and “Nasha Se Doori Hai” (Stay Away from Drugs) campaigns, which have significantly increased public awareness.
Financial and Administrative Reforms

To support this, each officer will contribute an additional Rs 100 per month. Educational assistance has also been boosted by 50%. The DGP also noted the implementation of the new e-HMRS system for digital service records and the launch of e-office at police headquarters, which will enhance administrative transparency and efficiency.

The discussions also covered improving living conditions in police lines, modernizing transportation for inmates, and ensuring proper demarcation of police lands to prevent encroachment.
