Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari received a grand and spirited welcome upon his arrival in Itarsi, where party workers and local residents gathered in large numbers to join the Kisan Khet Nyay Yatra.
Senior leaders including State Congress Vice President Sukhdev Panse, Rameshwar Nikhra, Manak Agrawal, Sanjay Sharma, and Shivkant Pandya were among the thousands present at the event.
Addressing the rally, Patwari asserted that the Congress has always fought for the rights of farmers and tribals. He alleged that the BJP government has stripped tribals of their entitlements under the Forest Rights Act, transferring nearly 140,000 hectares of land from them to powerful allies and supporters.
“The BJP government, with the collusion of ministers, MLAs and officials, has taken away land from tribals. When Congress returns to power, this land will be restored to its rightful owners,” he declared.
Patwari further criticised the government for denying farmers fair prices for their produce, including paddy, moong, wheat, and soyabean. He said the refusal to grant a minimum support price of ₹6,000 was a betrayal of farmers, and warned that Congress workers would strongly oppose such anti-people policies.
Highlighting the ongoing black-marketing and shortages of urea, he alleged that farmers are left wandering for months with receipts in hand yet unable to secure fertiliser, often facing police action instead. Calling it grave injustice, he vowed that Congress would fight relentlessly for farmers, labourers, and tribals across every village, field, and panchayat.
