New Delhi, Sep 12 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today said that they have arrested four persons, including three officers of Military Engineer Services (MES), Sagar, M.P. and one middleman, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from a man.
The CBI registered the case against Nitesh Kumar Singh, Garrison Engineer (GE) of MES, Sagar (M.P.), and Rajesh Mishra, a middleman, alleging they demanded a 2% bribe (Rs. 1,00,000) of the contract value for handing over the site to a contractor for repair and maintenance work.
After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 80,000 (on 1.5%), of the contract value from the complainant.
The CBI laid a trap and caught them. Later on, two more persons Rakesh Sahu, Assistant Garrison Engineer and Deepak, Junior Engineer (JE) were also placed under suspension.
Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents and articles.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
