Terrorist Ashrar Danish sustained eye injury from IED blast: Delhi police sources

New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) Ashrar Danish, one of the five alleged terrorists arrested for being involved in a pan-India ‘Khilafat’ terror module plotting jihad in India, once suffered eye injuries while making an IED, sources in the Delhi police Special Cell said today.

The sources told UNI that Danish was injured in the blast and had to be taken to a hospital, where he underwent medical treatment. He could have lost one eye in the incident.

The module was headed by Danish (23), an English Honors graduate from Ranchi, who coordinated the team and assigned tasks on behalf of a Pakistan-based handler.

The Special Cell is now looking for the doctor who treated him to record his statement.

“We have learned that the terror module kingpin Danish suffered an eye injury while making IEDs. He underwent treatment and has medical conditions. This will be added to the chargesheet too,” the source said.

The arrested alleged terrorists were identified as Ashrar Danish (Ranchi), Aftab Qureshi (Mumbai), Sufiyan Abubakar (Jharkhand), Mohammad Huzaifa (Telangana), and Kamran Qureshi (Madhya Pradesh).

Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha said in a press conference that the joint multi-state operation led to the capture of the individuals, who had planned to acquire land, declare it a “Khilafat zone,” and initiate violent activities under the guise of jihad.

The Special Cell is currently interrogating them to learn more about their plans and associates.
