Bhopal: A woman in Bhopal has filed a police complaint against her husband, alleging she was subjected to domestic abuse and then given instant triple talaq. The incident, which took place in the Tila Jamalpur area, has led to a police investigation and highlights the continued challenges faced by women despite the legal ban on the practice.
According to the complaint, the 23-year-old woman, who has a one-year-old daughter, was married to Aslam, for approximately 18 months. She alleges that he had been physically and mentally abusive since their marriage. The abuse reportedly culminated on Thursday, when Aslam allegedly assaulted her before uttering “talaq” three times and forcing her out of their home.
The woman immediately went to her parents’ home, where she and her family filed a formal police report. Police have registered a case against the husband under the relevant sections of the law. The incident underscores the importance of the law against instant triple talaq, which was banned in India in 2019.
