New Delhi, Sep 1 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today hit out at the Narendra Modi government over its approach towards China.
AAP urged the Centre to exercise caution in its dealings with Beijing.
AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that during the recent India-Pakistan war, Pakistan had received weapons and missiles from China, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expressing gratitude towards China despite its continued support to Pakistan.
“If Pakistan got weapons, missiles and drones from anywhere, it was from China, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Even senior Army officials have admitted that India was fighting not just Pakistan, but Pakistan and China together,” Singh said.
He argued that India should build relations with China “very thoughtfully and carefully” and cautioned the government against moving too fast.
Singh also criticised PM Modi’s interactions with Chinese leaders.
“We want to know whether the prime minister was thanking China for the Galwan Valley clash, where 20 Indian soldiers were killed, or for backing Pakistan during conflict,” he said.
He further said that imports worth Rs 40 lakh crore had taken place in the last six years. He alleged that despite the scale of trade, China continued to side with Pakistan in times of conflict.
