- Cartridges issued to shooters in MP reached criminal hand
Bhopal: In response to alarming reports of cartridges issued to shooters in Madhya Pradesh reaching criminal hands, the district administration is demanding accountability. On Friday, ten shooters appeared at the Bairagarh SDM office for verification, marking the fourth consecutive day of scrutiny.
The shooters brought their licenses, weapons, cartridges, and relevant documents for examination in a secure area of the SDM office. Some expressed their support for the district administration’s actions. Shooter sisters Srishti and Khushi Mishra voiced their agreement, emphasizing the importance of such measures to prevent misuse of firearms.
Srishti, an international shooter with a decade of experience, highlighted the challenges faced by professional shooters due to the actions of those who misuse weapons. Khushi, a national-level pistol shooter, echoed her sister’s sentiments, advocating for ongoing oversight to maintain the integrity of the sport.
Shooters were asked a series of detailed questions
During the verification process, shooters were asked a series of detailed questions regarding their weapons, including model specifications, purchase history, and usage of cartridges over the past ten years. Additional DCP Intelligence Deepak Nayak reiterated that strict action would follow any irregularities uncovered during the investigation.
Preliminary findings from the verification revealed that many shooters held licenses originally intended for self-defense but had acquired additional weapons under the sports category. Concerns arose regarding the use of ammunition allocated for sports competitions, with some shooters failing to document cartridge purchases despite participating in events.
The district administration’s inquiry aims to ensure responsible firearm use and uphold the integrity of the shooting community in Madhya Pradesh.
