“Mission Octopus” launched by RPF to combat Railway Crime

Bhopal: In a multi-pronged offensive against crime, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Bhopal Division has launched “Mission Octopus.” The initiative is aimed at clamping down on a wide range of offenses occurring on trains and in railway premises, including stone pelting, mobile theft, illegal vending, unauthorized chain pulling, and trespassing.

Over the past two months, the mission has already yielded significant results. The RPF has taken action against 1,742 illegal vendors and successfully reunited 83 children with their families. Furthermore, 370 individuals have been prosecuted for trespassing, while 1,004 people were penalized for unauthorized alarm chain pulling. The force also cracked down on theft, stone pelting, and crimes against women, registering 19 cases.

In a coordinated effort with the Customs Department, the RPF made major drug busts, seizing 24.18 kg of hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 24.18 crore and another 5.50 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.20 lakh. The mission, named for the octopus’s multiple limbs, is designed to simultaneously target various criminal activities, operating under the guidance of Principal Chief Security Commissioner Rajiv Kumar Yadav and Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Dr. Abhishek.
