New Delhi, Aug 28 (UNI) In a latest update in connection with the ongoing Lawyers’ strike against the Delhi LG’s notification, the Delhi Police has issued a statement that Notification on Police Deposition was put on hold.
The Delhi Police Headquarters issued a statement in which they said that a delegation of Coordination Committee of All Bar will meet the Home Minister after which future course of action will be decided.
Police said that they will decide their action after listening to all the stakeholders.
On August 13, the Delhi Government issued a notification designating all police stations in NCT of Delhi as places for the purpose of presenting evidence and deposing before courts through video conferencing by police personnel. Soon after this the lawyers went on strike calling it unfair.
The co-ordination committee of All District Courts Bar Association of Delhi wrote a letter in this respect to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and to LG.
They also submitted their representation on this matter.
“In view of the above, to address and resolve the concerns, it has been decided that the union Home Minister would meet the representatives of the Bar to discuss the issue with an open mind. In the meantime, the operation of the said notification on the ground would only be carried out after hearing all stakeholders,” Delhi police has said.
