Bhopal — Madhya Pradesh is on high alert as the active monsoon system is forecast to bring heavy rainfall to several districts over the next 24 hours. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for the divisions of Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, and Shahdol, while light to moderate showers are expected in Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and the Chambal region.
The intensified rainfall is a result of a monsoon trough line passing through the state, which is expected to cause a significant drop in daytime temperatures. The relentless downpour could lead to a rise in water levels in rivers and streams, prompting authorities to warn residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. Farmers have been advised to take precautions to protect their standing Kharif crops.
A yellow alert has been issued for numerous districts, including Shajapur, Agar, Singrauli, Rewa, Shivpuri, and Morena. Rain is also anticipated in Jhabua, Alirajpur, Bhopal, Vidisha, and Sehore, with the IMD warning of strong winds. These conditions are being influenced by a well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, a western disturbance, and the persistent monsoon trough. The rainy spell is expected to continue for the next day.
