Films foster creativity and social understanding

Bhopal: Films are not just a medium of entertainment but also serve as a record of their times. Good cinema enhances creativity while also helping us understand social structures, relevant issues, public sentiment, and everyday life. For this reason, it is important for administrators to watch contemporary films and documentaries. These thoughts were expressed by Sachin Sinha, Director General of RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration, at the inauguration of the three-day film festival “Classic Frames” organized for trainees at the Academy’s Mini Theatre.

He added that, in collaboration with Cine’ Classic, the Academy will continue regular film screenings and will also include documentaries, enabling officers to understand multiple perspectives on critical issues.

Mujeeburrahman Khan, Director of the Academy, noted that in recent months about 10–15 programs have been organized at the Academy with the support of SPIC MACAY and Cine’ Classic, including film screenings, theatre, dance, and music.

Dr. Anupama Rawat, Cultural Coordinator, explained that films and cultural events are selected according to each batch’s profile so that trainees can participate with greater interest and involvement.

Festival Curator Sunil Shukla shared that the festival opened with the 1972 Hollywood classic The Godfather. Over the course of three days, six films will be screened, including Satyajit Ray’s Charulata, Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin and Devdas, Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa, and the Tamil film Meiyazhagan.

The festival was attended by around 80 trainees along with R B Dhakad, Mamta Khede, Priya Sharma, and Pradeep Batham.
