Textile ministry inaugurates ‘The Kunj’, a crafts complex to showcase cultural extravaganza

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The Ministry of Textiles, through the office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) inaugurated ‘The Kunj’ along with the newly opened office of DC(HC) ‘Shilp Bhawan.’

Union Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, and Prabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs & textiles were also present at the event along with various dignitaries of the sector.

Highlighting this fantabulous event Giriraj Singh, posted on X “ The Kunj–Handmade in India, crafted for the world. Today, I inaugurated this unique space at Vasant Kunj, where the handloom and handicraft of every state come together under one roof.”

“Here, every creation tells the story of our artisans’ dreams, skills, and dedication. Every visit, every purchase strengthens their journey. I invite you all to come, experience The Kunj, celebrate India’s timeless craft, and empower the hands that weave our heritage.” the post added.

The inaugural event was full of cultural demonstrations, including the curated retail space, exhibition area, and craft demonstrations.

​The Kunj, a retail and cultural complex, is a first-of-its-kind initiative to celebrate the rich heritage of handicrafts and handlooms while providing a world-class platform to artisans for fair trade.

The workshop area is intended to provide the best customer experience in the beautiful sector.

The Kunj is nestled in Vasant Kunj and envisioned as a vibrant cultural destination. This place brings a set of cultural components, including design-led retail destinations, exhibitions, live demonstrations, craft workshops, culinary experiences, and cultural performances.

Kunj highlights India’s rich cultural heritage as over 30 leading craft organizations, designer collaborations, and community-led participation in three-months inaugural program.
