Bhopal: In a high-level review meeting led by General Manager Shobhana Bandopadhyay, West Central Railway officials convened on Wednesday to prioritize safety, crowd management, and passenger amenities ahead of the upcoming festive season.
The GM emphasized that safety remains the top priority for the railway zone. She issued directives for strict adherence to safety protocols, including regular and meticulous use of Ultrasonic Flaw Detection (USFD) technology to inspect rail tracks. Special attention was also given to monitoring turnouts, switches, and track joints to ensure smooth and secure train operations.
With major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja approaching, the meeting focused on enhancing the travel experience for passengers. Key discussions included creating dedicated holding areas at busy stations, improving crowd management on platforms and trains, and ensuring the continuous monitoring of essential facilities like lifts, escalators, and CCTV cameras.
The West Central Railway also plans to arrange special accommodations for general-category passengers on festival-specific trains. Security, a crucial aspect of the plan, will be maintained with continuous surveillance by RPF and GRPF personnel at stations and on trains.
Beyond immediate concerns, the GM also held extensive discussions on preparations for major events like the 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela and the 2028 Mahakumbh Simhastha Ujjain Mela, ensuring that all related infrastructure projects are on track for timely completion.
