Khera accuses Hindu Mahasabha, Muslim League for partition

New Delhi, Aug 16 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera today alleged that the Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League’s “collaboration” was central to the division of the country.

Speaking in response to the NCERT module on ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, during a press conference here, Khera claimed that it offers a “selective and incomplete narrative” of India’s pre-independence history.

“This is the truth. Partition happened through the collaboration between the Hindu Mahasabha and the Muslim League,” Khera alleged.

“If there is any biggest villain in history, it is the RSS. Future generations will not forgive them for the role they played. They spent 25 years acting as informants, in alliance with the Muslim League and Jinnah,” he claimed.

Khera said that 1938 was a turning point, when the Hindu Mahasabha, during its national convention on the banks of the Sabarmati in Gujarat, allegedly declared that “Hindus and Muslims cannot live together in one country.”

He further referenced 1940, when the Muslim League, under Muhammad Ali Jinnah, passed the Lahore Resolution, advocating for the creation of a separate Muslim nation.

“The Hindu Mahasabha said it in 1938. Jinnah echoed it in 1940. Why isn’t this chronology included in the NCERT module?” Khera asked.

Mentioning about 1942, Khera said, “Now let’s talk about 1942. I can say with certainty that this date also hasn’t been mentioned. Is it written there? What happened in 1942 — is that included? The alliance government was formed — is that written? The Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League formed a government. When the Quit India Movement was launched, the Congress resigned from all provincial governments and hit the streets”.

“At that time, the Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League formed an alliance, made a coalition government — in NWFP (North-West Frontier Province), Bengal, Sindh, and in Sindh Assembly, the proposal for Partition was passed. The coalition government was of Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League. Is this written in that NCERT module? If not, then burn that book!,” he said.

He also attacked BJP veteran LK Advani and also referenced the former Deputy Prime Minister’s 2005 visit to Jinnah’s mausoleum in Karachi, saying, “Advani himself went to Jinnah’s tomb to pay respects — shame! Can these pages from 1938, 1940, and 1942 be erased from history?”
