New Delhi, Aug 12 (UNI) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva today criticised opposition parties for making what he called “baseless allegations” against the Election Commission and the central government, accusing them of weakening democratic institutions.
Sachdeva pointed to contradictory positions within AAP, noting that while Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had accepted his party’s electoral defeat in February as the “people’s verdict,” senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh has recently alleged rigging in the same Delhi elections. “AAP leaders have become political caricatures,” Sachdeva said at a press conference.
The BJP leader suggested opposition parties were making excuses for their electoral losses rather than addressing governance failures.
“When AAP was in power, its ministers lost elections due to their own government’s corruption and inefficiency,” he claimed, adding that the party remains disconnected from public concerns even in opposition.
Sachdeva’s comments come amid growing opposition claims about electoral irregularities in several states. The BJP president framed these as coordinated attempts to discredit democratic processes after repeated electoral defeats.
The Election Commission has consistently denied allegations of bias in recent elections. Political observers note these exchanges reflect heightened tensions ahead of upcoming state assembly polls.
