New Delhi, Aug 10 (UNI) Members of Parliament from INDIA Bloc, led by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, will march from the Parliament House complex to the Election Commission office tomorrow, party sources said today.
The march, covering a distance of one km is intended as a show of unity and a symbolic assertion of democratic rights, sources said.
Sources said the Opposition has already sought time for the meeting with the Election Commissioners.
Meanwhile, the Raebareli MP stepped up his attack on the Election Commission alleging electoral irregularities calling it as “Vote Chori” saying that it is an “attack on the very foundation of India’s democracy – the principle of one man, one vote”.
To mobilise public participation, Congress party has also launched a campaign what it claimed a “fight to protect democracy”.
“Vote Chori is an attack on the foundational idea of ‘one man, one vote’. A clean voter roll is imperative for free and fair elections,” Rahul Gandhi said in a post on X.
He said, “Our demand from the EC is clear – be transparent and release digital voter rolls so that people and parties can audit them. Join us and support our demand – visit votechori.in/ecdemand Or give a missed call on 9650003420. This fight is to protect our democracy”.
Moreover, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will be hosting a crucial dinner meeting for INDI Alliance leaders tomorrow.
