Bhopal: In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested a 20-year-old man and seized 5.84 grams of smack (heroin) with a street value of approximately ?175,200. The arrest was made following a tip-off about a suspect attempting to sell the illegal narcotics.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailendra Singh Chauhan stated that the suspect was apprehended near the Lal Ground area in Nehru Nagar. The individual, identified as Aditya Namdev, alias Adil, a resident of Katara Hills, was found with the powdered substance wrapped in a plastic sheet. Police were alerted by his suspicious behavior and distinctive appearance—thin build, torn jeans, and tattoos on both arms—as he waited for a customer.

A case has been registered against Namdev under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act. Initial investigations reveal that the accused, who works as a delivery boy, has a history of criminal activity. He was previously booked for assault and under the Arms Act at the Katara Hills police station.

Police are now interrogating Namdev to uncover the network behind the drug smuggling operation.
