Man dies of suicide after harassment by loan sharks

Bhopal: A 30-year-old man from Sukhi Sewaniya in rural Bhopal tragically lost his life after allegedly being harassed and threatened by loan sharks over a small debt. The victim, identified as Pradeep Ahirwar, reportedly consumed poison on Tuesday evening, leading to his death during treatment the following morning, according to police reports.

Ahirwar’s father has accused three local men of abetting his son’s suicide, claiming they subjected him to continuous torture and threats regarding a debt of merely Rs 5,000. The accused allegedly demanded a total repayment of Rs 35,000, including interest, which exacerbated the pressure on Ahirwar.

Preliminary investigations by the Sukhi Sewaniya police station reveal that Ahirwar, a resident of Balamapur village, worked at a brick kiln and also operated a loading vehicle to support his family. On the evening of the incident, he returned home and began to vomit. Upon inquiry, he disclosed that he had ingested three Sulphos tablets. He was immediately taken to Hamidia Hospital, where he succumbed to his condition in the early hours of Wednesday. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
