Tragedy at Kanwar Yatra: Two more devotees die in Sehore

Sehore: The annual Kanwar Yatra, organized by the Vithlesh Seva Samiti, was marred by tragedy for the second consecutive day, with two more devotees losing their lives. The deaths bring the total casualty count to four in just two days, following a fatal stampede the day before. The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission has taken serious note of the incidents and has demanded a report from local authorities.

The two latest victims have been identified as 50-year-old Chaturbhai from Gujarat and 65-year-old Ishwar Singh Yadav from Haryana. Both individuals were participating in the large-scale procession to Kubereshwar Dham when their health suddenly deteriorated at different locations. They were rushed to the district hospital but were pronounced dead by doctors.

Their deaths follow a stampede on Tuesday that claimed the lives of two women. The stampede was reportedly triggered after the organizing committee, overwhelmed by the massive crowd, temporarily halted the distribution of rudraksha beads. The chaos resulted in several injuries, and the injured are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital. The Human Rights Commission has now sought a detailed report within 15 days, seeking information on crowd management protocols, medical aid provided to the injured, and financial assistance for the families of the deceased.
