Delhi Cong to stage ‘Jan Aakrosh’ rally against unfulfilled promises

New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The Delhi Pradesh Congress will organise a ‘Jan Aakrosh’ (Public Anger) protest on August 4 against Rekha Gupta Government.

Delhi Congress said that the demonstration will focus on five key issues that have allegedly been neglected since the BJP came to power six months ago.

Protestors will first gather at Chandgiram Akhara near the Trauma Center at 11 AM before marching towards the Delhi Assembly.

It said that the rally aims to draw attention to:

The ongoing demolition of slum clusters that has displaced 15,000 residents without proper rehabilitation, Rising crime rates and deteriorating law and order situation, Unchecked drug trade in the capital, Failure to deliver the promised Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women, Chronic waterlogging problems during monsoon

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav accused Rekha Gupta government of making empty promises.

“From slum rehabilitation to women’s welfare, not a single pre-poll guarantee has been fulfilled,” Yadav said. He criticized the unkept assurances about providing flats to slum dwellers and financial support for women.

The protest comes days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited affected slum areas and raised these issues in Parliament. While demolitions have been temporarily halted following public pressure, Yadav emphasized that displaced families continue to live in precarious conditions without any concrete rehabilitation plan.

With monsoon rains exposing the city’s poor drainage system, the Congress party claims the government has failed on both welfare and infrastructure fronts. The rally is expected to see participation from affected slum residents, women’s groups, and Congress workers.

Police authorities have been alerted about the planned demonstration, with traffic diversions expected around the Assembly area during the protest hours.
