Bhopal: The West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division has kicked off a “Swachhta Pakhwada” (Cleanliness Fortnight) campaign, running from August 1 to 15, 2025, in celebration of Independence Day. The initiative began today with a cleanliness pledge led by Divisional Railway Manager Deoashish Tripathi at the divisional office.
During the event, officers and employees across all stations, depots, loco sheds, and railway colonies also took the pledge, committing to a cleaner environment.
Each day of the fortnight will feature a different cleanliness drive. The focus will be on the thorough cleaning of stations, platforms, trains, tracks, offices, toilets, and water sources. The railway is also launching an extensive awareness campaign, using banners, posters, announcements, and social media to encourage passengers to join the effort.
In a show of further commitment, railway staff have voluntarily pledged to dedicate at least two hours of their time each week to cleanliness drives. This initiative not only supports the national Swachh Bharat Mission but also aims to significantly enhance passenger facilities and environmental consciousness. The campaign underscores the division’s commitment to creating a cleaner, more hygienic travel experience for everyone.
