New Delhi, July 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the 124th episode of his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’ today, lauded India’s performance at the World Police and Fire Games held recently in the United States, and announced that India will host the 2029 edition of the global sporting event.
The much sought after sports event features participation from police, firefighting, and security personnel from around the world.
Speaking during the broadcast, Modi, while announcing that India will host the 2029 edition of the Games, described it as an opportunity to highlight the country’s hospitality and sporting traditions.
“Players from all over the world will come to our country. We will showcase to them India’s hospitality and introduce them to our traditional sports culture,” he said.
Talking about the recently concluded tournament held in America, Modi said “Proud of those who made India proud at the World Police and Fire Games, which were held recently in the USA. This is among the biggest tournaments held globally after the Olympic Games. India created history in it. India won close to 600 medals and reached the top three out of 71 countries. The hard work of the security and armed forces personnel who are always at the forefront of the service of the country bore fruits.”
“I congratulate all the participants of the event,” he said.
The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial international event that brings together law enforcement and emergency services personnel from across the globe to compete in a variety of athletic disciplines. India’s strong performance this year has been widely appreciated for showcasing the dedication and physical fitness of its uniformed services.
India’s growing role as a host of international sporting events, Modi noted, reflects the nation’s increasing stature on the global stage and the enthusiasm for sports among its citizens.
