London, July 27 (UNI) Nottingham Forest has received a major boost ahead of the forthcoming Premier League season with the news that England midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has signed a new three-year contract.
The 25-year-old has signed the deal to end speculation over his future after it had looked as if Tottenham Hotspur was looking to sign him by paying his 60 million pounds (80 million U.S. dollars) buyout clause.
Gibbs-White has scored 18 goals and given 28 assists since joining Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2022, and he was one of the key factors in the club’s seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season to qualify for Europe.
“I’ve felt at home at Forest from the moment I arrived,” said Gibbs-White.
“The support from the fans, my teammates, and everyone around the club has been unbelievable,” he said on the club website after announcing his new deal.
“I believe in what we’re building here – and with the backing of Mr [Evangelos] Marinakis (the club owner) and the enormous ambition he has, I want to be part of making something special. I’m excited for what’s to come,” continued Gibbs-White.
Marinakis also celebrated the news, saying there was “significant interest” in Gibbs-White from elsewhere.
“I promised our fans we would not only compete, but grow stronger and stronger every season.
Today is another big step in that journey,” he said.
