Jammu, July 26 (UNI) The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police today recovered a consignment of heroin suspected to have been drone-dropped from Pakistan close to the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesperson said on the night of July 25, the police recovered a narcotics consignment suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the border at village Chillyari tehsil, Rajpura, district Samba.
The consignment, he said, was wrapped in a yellow tape and was lying in an open field at Chillyari village along the international border.
“The recovered consignment was tested to be heroin, weighing about 498 gm, and was seized by the police,” he added.
A search operation was launched in the area after the recovery of the narcotic consignment, he said.
The spokesman said a case under relevant sections has been registered at police station Ghagwal and investigation started.
