Heavy rains in next 24 hrs in Telangana

Hyderabad, July 26 (UNI) Heavy to Very Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, KomaramBheem Asifabad districts of Telangana during the next 24-hours, according to the weather department.

Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kamareddy, Rajanna Sirisilla districts in the state, the weather said in its bulletin released on Saturday.

Thunderstorms accompanied with Lightning and Gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely to prevail at isolated places in all districts of Telangana during the next 24-hours from Sunday.

In view of heavy rains in the state and after careful examination, the government today sanctioned an amount of Rs 33 crore for each district @ Rs 1 crore to procure material, duly following the procedure as needed for effective tackling of heavy rains and floot situation in the district during the monsoon for the year 2025, according to a GO issued by Arvind Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (Disaster management) here.

Some states such as Kerala already have a system of releasing such advance funds towards undertaking preparatory procurement of materials required towards flood relief before the actual floods/heavy rains occur, the GO said.

The utilization of this amount should be utilized in accordance with SDRF norms for procuring materials and equipment as needed for getting prepared to tackle heavy rains and flood like situations in an effective manner.

The services of Aapda Mitra Volunteers should be used effectively for utilizing the flood material effectively, in addition to the staff of District fire office, revenue and police department. The immediate requirement of such material which could be very effective in saving the lives and damages due to rains, may also be ascertained from the police department.

It is further clarified that this amount should nto be used for carrying out repairs to building and departmental funds from the respective departments should be used for such purposes.

The material and equipment procured should be kept in the safe custody to concerned fire offices after the rains, the GO added.

Intermittent drizzles having taken over from the heavy lashing of the last few days had the intensity of rainfall coming down.

Till Saturday noon, the highest rainfall of 15 mm in the city was recorded at Mailardevpally in Rajendranagar mandal.

Meanwhile, heavy inflows into Himayatsagar continued and by 10 am today, 1,100 cusecs of inflows came into the reservoir from upstream areas. The water level at this reservoir stood at 1,761 feet, just two feet from the FTL of 1,763 feet.

In Osmansagar, inflows of 150 cusecs were recorded at 10 am and as against a FTL of 1,790 feet, water stood at 1,782 feet.

In Hussain Sagar, the recorded minimum water level at 7 am was 513 meters against the present water level of 514 meters.
