- Major drug bust in city
In a major breakthrough under the ongoing state-wide anti-drug campaign ‘Nashe Se Doori, Hai Zaroori’, the Bhopal Crime Branch arrested a drug peddler and seized 3.88 kilograms of cannabis, valued at approximately Rs 70,000. The accused has been booked under NDPS Act.
According to officials, the crime branch received a tip-off about the presence of a man suspected to be carrying illegal drugs in MP Nagar. A team of officers from the Crime Branch reached the location and spotted a man matching the description. He was carrying a black and blue rucksack and was seen loitering near the ground.
The man identified himself as Ganesh Kuchbandiya, 32, a resident of Obeidullaganj in Raisen. A search of the bag revealed two packets wrapped in brown tape. On opening the packets, cops found them to contain cannabis.
Further investigation revealed that Ganesh Kuchbandiya is a repeat offender with a history of involvement in criminal activities. He was taken into custody and booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Akhil Patel, stated that the operation was another successful step in the city’s crackdown on drug-related offenses.
