CIO launches nationwide tree drive to combat climate change

  • One million saplings to be planted by children across India

Bhopal: In a bold and inspiring move towards a greener, cleaner India, the Children Islamic Organisation (CIO) launched a nationwide campaign titled “Hands in Soil, Hearts with India”, aiming to plant one million trees from June 25 to July 26, 2025.

Amidst the rising challenges of pollution, deforestation, and climate change, this campaign seeks to instill environmental responsibility in the hearts of children—India’s future. Through the “Har Bachcha Ek Ped” initiative, every child plants at least one tree in spaces like homes, schools, parks, madarsas, and community centers.

Rooted in Islamic values, the campaign echoes the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):

“A Muslim who plants a tree or sows seeds, from which man, animals, and birds benefit, is regarded as giving charity (sadaqah).”

Children also participate in poster-making, essay writing, awareness rallies, media briefings, and interfaith plantation drives, promoting communal harmony and collective environmental care.

The campaign’s core goals are to nurture love for nature, teach Islamic perspectives on ecology, build leadership and teamwork, and foster empathy for the environment.

By turning every child into an eco-warrior, CIO sends a powerful message: planting a tree today is a gift to tomorrow. This campaign is not just an event—it’s a movement of hope, healing, and harmony.
