Rahul alleges bias in LS proceedings, says Opposition voices being silenced

New Delhi, July 21 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi today alleged that the Opposition is being systematically prevented from airing its views, and that he, as the LoP, is never given the opportunity to speak.

Speaking to the media in the Parliament House premises, Gandhi said, “Look, the issue is that they allow the Defence Minister and their people to speak in the House, but if anyone from the Opposition wants to say something, it’s not allowed. I am the Leader of the Opposition—it’s my right—yet I am never allowed to speak. So, this is a new approach from their side.”

Responding to a question about the government’s unwillingness to engage, Gandhi said, “They ran out of the House in a second, so how can there be a discussion…”

He also responded to repeated assertions by the Chair that the House was ready for a debate. “Yes, there will be a discussion, if they allow it, then it will happen. But the issue is that convention says if people from the government speak, then we should also be given space. We just wanted to say a few words, but the Opposition is not allowed that,” he added.
