Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh School Education Department has made e-attendance through the “Hamare Shikshak” mobile app mandatory for all guest teachers from July 18, 2025. Teachers failing to mark their attendance online will be considered absent, and their honorarium will be withheld.
This decision follows a departmental review highlighting poor compliance with the e-attendance system. Shockingly, no district reported more than 50% digital attendance, with many showing just 10-20%. Anuppur district recorded 0% e-attendance, prompting serious concern.
The department has warned of strict action against defaulters, emphasizing that digital attendance will ensure teacher accountability and system transparency. However, the move has faced resistance from teachers, especially in rural areas, who cite network problems and technical glitches as major hurdles. While the government stands firm on implementation, it remains to be seen how effectively the system will be adopted across the state.
