It feels incredibly special to be a part of Galwan: Chitrangada Singh

Mumbai, July 11 (UNI) Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh has described her involvement in the upcoming film “Battle of Galwan” as a profoundly meaningful experience, both on a personal and professional level.

Helmed by director Apoorva Lakhia and fronted by superstar Salman Khan, ‘Battle of Galwan’ is inspired by the stand-off between India and Chinese forces in Galwan Valley in 2020, a confrontation that proved to be one of the most volatile and consequential military clashes in recent decades. This incident took place on June 15, resulting in casualties on both sides.

“It feels incredibly special to be a part of ‘Galwan’. A few years ago, there was a remake of a Marathi project where I was supposed to work alongside Khan, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar.”

“Unfortunately, the film never went on floors. I still remember Khan saying, “There is always a next time to work together.” After all these years, like he says, ‘Ek baar maine commitment kar di, toh main apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta’ (once I make a commitment, I don’t even listen to myself), and true to his word, he honoured that commitment,” the 49-year-old actor said.

Chitrangada Singh also praised director Apoorva Lakhia and added, “He could’ve cast any big star, but he placed his trust in my craft. I truly appreciate his faith in me and I’m proud to be part of a story as significant and powerful as the ‘Battle of Galwan’.”

What makes this role ever more profound for Chitrangada is her background, her father is a retired colonel in the Indian army. She has grown up listening to stories of bravery, sacrifice for the country and patriotism since her childhood.
