The Institute for Excellence in Higher Education (IEHE), Bhopal, organized a large-scale tree plantation campaign titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” under the guidance of Higher Education Minister Shri Inder Parmar, Chairman of the General Council of the Institute. The campaign aimed to instill environmental sensitivity and awareness among students.
The program began with a ceremonial worship of plants, followed by an oath to protect the environment. Director Dr. Prajnesh Kumar Agarwal emphasized the importance of trees, saying, “Trees are not just a symbol of greenery, but the foundation of life itself. Every small effort can help make the Earth greener and cleaner.”
With the inspiration of senior environmentalist and social worker Shri Ashok Patrath, 200 saplings were planted, including Ashoka, Neem, Arjun, Banyan, Tulsi, Bel, Jamun, Amla, Sitaphal, Gulmohar, and others. Students actively participated, with some planting trees to mark personal milestones. B.Com student Kanak Vaishnav and M.Com student Ayush Nema planted trees on their birthdays.
Emotional reflections followed. “A mother’s love and the shade of a tree both give life and protection,” said Ayush. Nancy Mishra remarked that the campaign reflects the love and care a mother represents. Ashish Singh and Udit Chaukse echoed similar sentiments, likening trees to nurturing mothers.
The campaign concluded with a vote of thanks and a memento presentation to Shri Patrath. Over 500 students, faculty, and staff participated, with support from the Harit Vasundhara Club, IQAC, Commerce Society, and Academic Committee.
