Shillong, July 2 (UNI) Three accused in the murder of an Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi on Wednesday were produced in a local court here and remanded to judicial custody after the expiry of a six days police custody.
Lokendra Tomar, Silome James and Balla Ahirwar, were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, East Khasi Hills district, Don Kitbor Koshy Mihsil.
“The investigating officer (IO) has prayed for 14 days judicial custody. After hearing at length, the court has remanded Shilom James to 14 days judicial custody and other two accused persons – Tomar and Ahirwar for seven days judicial custody,” Tushar Chanda, the Assistant Public Prosecutor told reporters.
The Special Investigating Team(SIT) of Meghalaya Police arrested the three accused on charges of aiding the prime murder accused Sonam Raghuvanshi, widow of Raja and her paramour Raj Singh Kushwaha and destruction of crucial evidence in connection with the murder case.
Sonam and one of her aide Vishal Singh Chauhan had leased the flat at Dewas Naka, from James in Indore after the murder of Raja in Wei Sawdong parking lot in Sohra on May 23.
James, a property broker, allegedly was involved in the burning of a bag that contained several items left by Sonam and the other murder accused in the Indore flat.
Ahirwar, the security guard cum carpenter of the flat, and the owner of the flat, Tomar, were arrested after evading arrest.
Through James the SIT of Meghalaya police, probing the case, have been able to recovered Rs. 50000 cash, a pistol, some jewellery, a laptop, a pen drive and jewellery that allegedly belongs to Sonam and left by her in the flat at Indore.
Five other accused, including Sonam, Raj Kushwaha, Akash Rajput, Anand Kurmi and Vishal Singh Chauhan are also lodged in judicial custody for their involvement in the murder of Raja.
