Vidisha: Panchayat and Rural Development and Labor Minister Shri Prahlad Singh Patel inaugurated a large-scale plantation drive at the origin of the Parashari river in Hinnoda Chak in Vidisha. The event witnessed participation from Basoda MLA Shri Hari Singh Raghuvanshi, District President Smt. Neetu Raghuvanshi, Divisional Forest Officer Shri Hemant Yadav, District Panchayat CEO Shri OP Sanodia, public representatives, officials, social workers, and villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Patel emphasized that plantation should not remain symbolic—it should lead to tree growth through proper care and protection. He stressed the importance of fencing and water supply, especially during summers, to ensure plant survival. He called for coordinated efforts among departments following the forest department’s model action plan.
The Minister appreciated village Sarpanch Shri Ramgopal Yadav’s commitment to the river revival and honored him for his exemplary efforts. MLA Raghuvanshi lauded the removal of encroachments by locals and urged community involvement to restore the river’s past glory.
The campaign began with the planting of a fig tree in Navgrah Vatika. Volunteers then planted various saplings along the riverbank, covering a stretch of one kilometer. The plantation will extend over five kilometers as part of the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan.
