MP Panchayat By-Elections set for July 22nd

Bhopal, The Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission has officially declared the schedule for the Panchayat By-Elections 2025, with polling slated for July 22nd.

Key dates for the electoral process

According to Abhishek Singh, Secretary of the State Election Commission, the electoral notification and the process for receiving nomination papers will commence on July 1st. Aspiring candidates have until July 8th to submit their nominations.

Following this, the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 9th. The final date for withdrawing candidatures is July 11th, which will also be the day for the allocation of election symbols. Polling will be held on July 22nd, from 7 AM to 3 PM.

Counting and results

For the Panch (ward member) posts, vote counting will begin immediately after the conclusion of polling on July 22nd at the respective polling stations.

For the Sarpanch (village head) and Janpad Panchayat Member posts, counting will occur at the Block Headquarters, with results to be declared from 8 AM on July 26th. The tabulation of votes counted at polling stations for Panch posts, along with the declaration of their election results, will take place on July 29th.

These by-elections will see voting for 3,983 Panch positions, 64 Sarpanch positions, and 11 Janpad Panchayat Member positions, highlighting a crucial exercise in grassroots democracy for the state.
