Teen dies, two injured as speeding car overturns on Airport Road

Bhopal: A tragic accident occurred around 1 pm on Sunday on Bhopal’s Airport Road near Data Colony, when a high-speed Scorpio vehicle overturned after hitting the divider. The car, being driven by a 17-year-old boy, Danish, son of Zaheer Khan, crashed and fell on the opposite side of the road. Danish died on the spot, while his two friends sustained serious injuries.

According to Koh-e-Fiza police station in-charge KG Shukla, Danish was a resident of Housing Board Colony in Karond. He had gone to a dhaba on Parwalia Road with two friends. On their return journey, the car went out of control near Gulmohar Garden and collided with cement pots placed on the divider. The impact caused the vehicle to flip over and hit a loading auto coming from the opposite direction.

Local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the police and ambulance. Rescue operations took nearly an hour, as two boys were trapped inside the mangled car. One of them was stuck between the front seat and dashboard, and had to be pulled out by breaking the door.

While Danish has been identified, the identities of the other two boys are yet to be confirmed. Both injured youths have been admitted to Hamidia Hospital, where one is said to be in critical condition.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. They are also probing how the minor obtained the vehicle and under whose name the car is registered.
